Imphal, July 23 2016 :
The All Manipur United
Clubs' Organisation
(AMUCO) has completed due
preparations for the 19th anni-
versary of the Integrity Day
which would be observed at
Kwakeithel Akham Leikai
community hall on August 4.
Speaking to media persons
at their Kwakeithel office to-
day, AMUCO vice-president
Ph Deban recalled that
NSCN-IM and Government
of India signed a cease fire
agreement on July 25, 1997
which came into effect from
August 1, 1997.
To thwart off any possible
disturbances to the territorial
integrity of Manipur as a re-
sult of the cease fire agree-
ment, people of Manipur took
out a historic mammoth rally
at Imphal on August 4, 1997
before a huge people's con-
ference was held at Mapal
Kangjeibung.
On the way back home
after the public meeting,
Oinam Romi died as he fell
from a moving vehicle.
Two
other people were also killed
at Yairipok as they were run
over by a vehicle when they
were staging a protest dem-
onstration.
The Government of India and NSCN-IM signed another agree-
ment on June 14, 2001 at Bangkok which had an added clause in
the form of 'without territorial limits'.
The controversial term
'without territorial limits' were however removed after the historic
civil movement of June 2001.
Last year on August 3, the Government of India and
NSCN-IM signed a framework agreement but no details of the
framework agreement have been divulged so far, Deban re-
marked.
He then asserted that any solution worked out between
NSCN-IM and Government of India should be confined to the
State of Nagaland alone.
He added that AMUCO is opened to holding dialogues
with all communities so as to bring peace and harmony in
Manipur.
