Imphal, June 23 2020:
In view of the political crisis that erupted in the State recently, Communist Party of India, Manipur State Council has opined that only conducting floor test will clear the doubt and confusion of the public.
In a statement, CPI, MSC state secretary, L Sotinkumar said that it is quite unfortunate that the Chief Minister N Biren is still not calling the Governor to convene a special session of the State Assembly when several MLAs and Ministers have supported the Opposition party.
If he is indeed the Chief Minister who trust the parliamentary democracy and the Constitution of India, he should face a vote of confidence or vote of no confidence in the Assembly, he said and added that winning the lone Rajya Sabha seat by its candidate doesn't necessarily mean that the Government is still trusted by the public.
Sotinkumar also stated that the COVID crisis could not be the sole reason for not calling a floor test as the same was done in Madhya Pradesh amid the lockdown.
Continuing that the Governor should discuss the developing political situation in the State and at the same time hear the call of SPF to conduct floor test, Sotinkumar added that floor test is the only way to prove its majority in the House.
If the Government refuses or delay to hold floor test than the CPI will consider that the incumbent State Government is using money and muscle power to save itself.
