Imphal, June 23 2013:
A unique tourist park named Pari Puri Pukei is being developed in full swing at Paokhol Chingol Tellou, Imphal East district.
The park is being developed since two years back at a place between Tellou and Chingnungkhok off Imphal-Ukhrul road through Nongada bridge, said Pari Puri Pukei Trust spokesman Leitam Ingocha.
Spanning over 50 acres, the Pari Puri Pukei tourist park which would house artefacts and articles closely associated with the history of Manipur is aimed at showcasing the rich tradition and heritage of Manipur to foreign tourists in tandem with India's Look East Policy, Ingocha said.
The park would include a museum where replicas of the ancient housing styles of different indigenous communities as well as antiques which have become obsolete or nearly disappeared would be put on display.

A moat would also be constructed around the inner periphery of the park in the shape of Kangla Moat.
Replicas of Thong Nambonbi (humped bridge), Kangla, Loktak Lake, Koubru hills, Siroy hills, Ningthem Pukhri and Thangapat would also be constructed inside the park.
Saplings of 108 different varieties of flowers native to the soil of Manipur but have become very rare have been cultivated in addition to 80 varieties of local fruit trees.
The park would also have a separate section where medicinal plants would be planted exclusively, said Ingocha while seeking Government attention towards the ongoing effort of developing such a unique park.
