Gopalkrishna pointed out that he prepared really hard for the exam and used to read whenever he had any free time and also go for tuition for all the five subjects. He said, "Tuition and coaching are really necessary for the students in Manipur where there is constant bandhs and strikes" .
Frequent bandhs and strikes usually create difficulties in covering the syllabus.
So tuitions and coaching classes are really important for students especially those in class X and XII, he added.
Crediting his school and tuition teachers, parents and family members for his success, he said that students must never give up even in the face of failure and instead try to overcome the obstacles in order to reach their goals.
Expressing happiness at his son's achievement, Gurumayum Gajendra Sharma said that Gopalkrishna was extremely dejected when he lost the 1st position in the Class X exam by a mere one point and even declined to celebrate his achievement of securing the 2nd position.
"But his dedication and hard work to fulfil his promise of securing the 1st position in the Class 12th exams have finally paid off", he said.
Gopalkrishna's mother Gurumayum (o) Ajita Devi said that they would fully support their son in all his future aim and endeavour.
Gopalkrishna has two siblings, one elder sister and a younger sister.
His father, who used to be a teacher at a private school, provides tuition classes and tackles whatever small businesses he can find while his mother sells khichdi at Lamlong bazar to make ends meet.
