Committee stages protest against alleged life attempt

The Torban Kshetri Leikai Development Committee (TKDC) today staged a sit in protest against the alleged life attempt on its vice president by some unknown miscreants.
The sit in protest held today at the Singjamei Wangma Kshetri Leikai roadside was participated by hundreds of men and women of the locality.
As per the protesters, Okram Lelen who is the vice president of Torban Kshetri Leikai Development Committee, was on his way home when he was allegedly chased by miscreants riding a white Bolero on November 20 in the Akampat area at around 8.30 pm.
The miscreants who allegedly tried to kidnap Lelen', also attempted to assault him, but Lelen escaped unhurt, they said.
He is an innocent labourer earning for the family, and recently he joined the TKDC as the vice president, they said.
The Torban Kshetri Leikai Development Committee has also strongly condemned the life attempt on its office bearer.
The Committee appeals to those miscreants not to repeat such incidents in future.
According to Okram Lelen, he has no known enmity with anybody but associated with the Zilla Parishad Member of the area, Seram Neken for the last few months.
Such a threat to his life is suspicious of political intrigue, he said.
Meanwhile, the Thongju Kendra Tengbang Lup (TKTL) has condemned such an act of cowardice against its joint secretary Okram Lelen.
TKTL has been organizing Covid-19 awareness in Thongju Assembly Constituency, in which Okram Lelen took active part as a joint secretary.
The secretary of TKTL, Jawan Mutum also issued a press release in this regard.
The Combined Covid-19 fighting team has also strongly denounced the attack on Okram Lelen.
The South East Youth Organization (SEYO), in its press statement, also condemned the attack and appealed to all concerned not to target innocent people in the locality.
