Leader of the Opposition and senior BJP MLA RK Dorendra today said that the Government should convene a special session of the Assembly within a week's time to discuss the revocation of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act and added that the notification of summoning the Assembly should be issued within 48 hours.
Speaking to The Sangai Express the former Chief Minister said that a special session of the Assembly should be convened within a week so that the contentious issue of revoking the said Act may be discussed and a resolution may be adopted by the Assembly.
The resolution can then be submitted to Parliament either to repeal the AFSPA, he added.
The BJP MLA further said that the report of the Court of Inquiry instituted by the Assam Rifles authority into the circumstances leading to the death of Th Manorama should be tabled in the Assembly for due discussion.
