Miscreants loot Principal's office

Imphal, November 21 2012:
Two unknown armed persons took away some important documents and materials including a National tricolour and a laptop at gunpoint from the office chamber of Principal of Lilong Higher Secondary Madrassa in the wee hours today.
The two masked persons barged into the madrassa complex at around 2 am and asked the chowkidar to open the office chamber of the Principal at gunpoint.
Principal Md Islauddin Shah told reporters that chowkidar Md Wahidur Raman (21) came to his house after azaan prayer and informed about the incident.
The duo took away a National flag, a Government issued laptop and documents related to student's union election, the Principal added.
Moreover the two persons had also taken away refundable nomination fees amount of Rs 21,000 (Rs 1500 per candidate) deposited by 14 candidates, he said.
Informing that election to the new student's union is scheduled to be held tomorrow, Islauddin Shah said that he was clueless whether the documents had been taken away in connection with the election.
Although, the key of his office chamber was with the chowkidar, keys for the steel almirah and table drawers kept inside his office were with him, the Principal added.
However, the miscreants opened the almirah and drawers using counterfeit keys, he added.
Teaching faculties, staff, students, office bearers of the incumbent student's union of the college, local guardians and organisations had a joint meeting and decided to hold the election of the student's union as scheduled.
According to the Principal, who is also the Returning Officer of the election, fresh scrutiny was conducted today.
The matter has been reported to the Lilong Police Station, he added.
The Principal said that the incident was condemnable as it happened just a day before the election of the student's union.
He added that the incident had given unrest to the minds of the college staff and students at a time when they were busy with the works of form fill-up of Class XI and XII examinations and sessional examinations from Class VI to X .
Lilong Turel Ahanbi ZP Member Md Abdul Salam and Lilong Nagar Panchayat Chairperson Shah Alam who visited the college to take stock of the situation condemned the incident.
They said that they would urged the police to thoroughly investigate the incident.
