Office building, quarter of PHC Kakwa inaugurated

The office building and quarters of Public Health Centre, Kakwa was inaugurated today by Health and Family Welfare Minister L Jayantakumar Singh.
Speaking at the occasion, Jayantakumar appealed to the people of the area to treat the centre as their own property and added that public participation in maintaining such property is very important.
The Minister informed the gathering that the Government is planning to recruit 280 doctors and 48 nurses for strengthening the manpower of the PHC within the last week of November.
He further said that the promotion of education and health services in the hill districts of Manipur can facilitate the process of bringing unity in the State.
In this regard, under the funding of NABARD, construction of 46 sub centres and nine PHCs have been started in the hill districts of the State.
In his speech, MLA of Langthabal Assembly Constituency, O Joy Singh requested the Department and State Government to think over the initiative of 24x7 health service at the newly inaugurated PHC to provide proper services to the public.
He mentioned that people need effective and good service more than good buildings.
He said that having such a PHC would be meaningless if people do not get proper treatment.
Joy further observed that in States like Manipur where there is lack of medical infrastructure, renowned doctors need to utilise their skills more efficiently.
He also appealed the medical professionals to work with ethics and in the spirit of helping people.
