Thousands pay homage to Dr Sumpi John

Thousands of people in Chandel District Headquarters paid homage to the mortal remains of Rev Dr Sumpi John Anal during a public reception organized by Anal Theological Association (ATA) and Maha Area Baptist Churches in Japhou bazar on Friday.
As the cortege passed MBC Imphal to Chandel, where a condolence service was held, Association of Churches, families and individuals including representatives of Tarao, Monsang, Moyon and Chothe Tribes, whose homes were on the road beginning from Komlathabi area to the district headquarters, paid floral tribute to the deceased leader in their respective jurisdictions.

A public reception held at Japhou Bazar was marked by condolence messages given by ATA President Wng Thumdar, Anal Naga Tangpi President Wng Victor Kohring and floral tribute by several Pastors from different Churches in Maha Area.
As a mark of respect, CNPO, NWUC, ANTA with its frontal units, MNBCA, Moyon Naga Baptist Churches Association, LNBA, AC Battalion, Bunghliim Wolhring Chapa, Liwa Changning B/Ch, Japhou B/Ch, Lambung B/Ch and Khoibu B/ch presented shawls and articles to the departed leader before the procession headed towards Chakpikarong.
The Japhou bazar remained closed for half the day.
Meanwhile, ANTA, MNBCA, CNPO, Lamkang Christian Forum, ATA and LNBA have expressed condolence over the sudden and sad demise of Rev Dr Sumpi John.
Vice President of UNC Ts Warngam on behalf of the Nagas under the aegis of UNC, extended deepest condolence on the demise of late Rev Dr Sumpi John who had rendered unflinching services to the society in different capacities as a humble and committed servant of the Almighty God.
Indeed, he had contributed so much for the glory of the Heavenly Kingdom and his demise is a great loss for us which has created a vast emptiness in the society.
"We do share the sorrows and sadness of the bereaved family, near and dear ones.
May the grace of the Lord console and bless them all," said a joint statement.
Dr Sumpi John Anal would be laid to rest at his native home Salluk following a funeral service scheduled for tomorrow at Chakpikarong at 10 am.
