Imphal, March 21 2014 :
Asserting that the India Government's money meant for bringing development is not reaching the hill areas of Manipur at all, President of Manipur unit of Trinamool Congress Kim Gangte today alleged that the absence of development in the hills is due to lack of real concern and earnestness on the part of the political representatives.
Addressing a political conference at Saikul in Senapati district, Kim also called on all the women to work towards bringing about a change in the hill areas.
The State's Trinamool chief is contesting the ensuing Lok Sabha polls from the Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency which would go to poll on April 9 .
Women should come forward and join politics to bring about a change, Kim said and added that there will be no peace and tranquility in any part of the globe until and unless the women are empowered.
She went on to say that bringing peace and unity in Manipur is the main objective of her party, and appealed to all to try to uncover the truth behind purchasing of full-size buildings in big cities such as Delhi and Mumbai by the men in politics from the State.
The Trinamool candidate further said that both the hill and the valley still lack proper amenities like health, education, road connectivity and electricity.
Trinamool MLA Dr I Ibohalbi, who is also the leader of the party's legislature wing, said that the UPA Government at the Centre will be in the opposition bench after the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
He also said that the people do not see any development in the hill despite the tall claim of equitable distribution of wealth made by the State Government.
