Tamei civil society organisations endorse DC's decision to inaugurate bank

Imphal, October 20 2017:
Several civil society organizations of Tamei said that they fully endorse the decision of the Deputy Commissioner, Tamenglong district, Armstrong Pame, to inaugurate a bank (SBI) at Tamei Headquarters on October 23 .
A joint statement issued by Village Authority Chairman Council (VACC) of Tamei sub division, Tamei Women Front, Tamei Headquarters Student Union and Tamei Youth Club, today, stated that they "re-affirmed and fully endorsed the decision of Tamenglong DC to open/inaugurate" SBI at Tamei headquarters on October 23 .
The civil society organizations of Tamei then expressed their resentment over the news item "TSU condemns" which appeared in The Sangai Express on Friday's edition wherein the latter group "condemned the decision taken by the DC to shift the under-construction State Bank of India (SBI) branch to Tamei guest house" .
The civil organizations of Tamei also said that some elements with vested interests are all out to "resist" the inauguration of the bank by taking the name of "Tamei Students' Union" .
Meanwhile, the Tamei Headquarters Students' Union (THQSU) president, Sironbou clarified that there is no such organisation called 'Tamei Students' Union' or TSU in short .
He condemned those people behind this 'fictitious' students' body and their act .
Meanwhile, on October 10, 2017, the civil organisations of Tamei had submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister urging for the "installation of bank" at Tamei at the earliest .
The Tamei based organisations, in their memorandum, mentioned that the people of the area have been deprived of banking facilities since 1982 .
In the memorandum, they also narrated the hardship faced by the people of Tamei sub division in want of banking facilities for several decades.
