Imphal, July 20:
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today said a very difficult situation was prevailing in Manipur in the wake of the alleged killing of Manorama Devi by the 17th Assam Rifles and large-scale protest over the incident.
Addressing a press conference here today, the Prime Minister, who was on a day-long visit to Assam to review the flood situation, described the recent development in Manipur as "unfortunate" and said "it should not have happened".
