At Lilong Higher Secondary Madrasa, the volunteers found that the students who were sitting for the HSLC examination at the centre were students of the same school.
In room number 15 of the exam centre, the volunteers came across a long bearded Muslim man/student openly copying answers from his mobile phone, and immediately stopped him from continuing the exam any further.
He was identified as Ajimuddin (25) s/o Joyauddin Farida of Lilong Awang.
Rajesh claimed that when the volunteers checked the individual's phone, they found that he had snapped and sent numerous photos of the English question paper to another individual as well as to a group through WhatsApp.
The volunteers found out that after the external parties sent back the respective answers, Ajimuddin had been copying the answers by bringing out his mobile phone.
Rajesh said that the individual who had been sending the answers to Ajimuddin was identified as one Sahidur (28) s/o Jabuddin Surtana of Lilong Makha and he was later nabbed by ISCC volunteers after the examination wrapped up.
The co-convenor explained that Ajimuddin began sending the question papers through WhatsApp at around 9.43 am and he began receiving the answers at around 10.18 am.
The WhatsApp group to which Ajimuddin sent the question paper to, has around 35 members, he added.
Questioning how the students were able to cheat and use unfair means easily in the exam centre despite the presence of OC, AOC and invigilators, Rajesh claimed that the situation point towards direct or indirect involvement of the said officials in encouraging the students to cheat in the exam.
He demanded the invigilators to be removed from their posts immediately and also demanded the Board to replace the OC and AOC at the earliest.
On the other hand, the co-convenor mentioned that when the volunteers went to Khangabok High School (A), the invigilators did not extend cooperation.
The invigilators were doing as they please at the exam centre and the volunteers also came across numerous unfair practice at the centre, he claimed.
ISCC volunteers also found widespread cheating and unfair practices at Heirok Higher Secondary School.
The volunteers came across the invigilators, directly or indirectly helping the students in cheating the examination, Rajesh added.
On the other hand, DESAM president, Moirangthem Angamba said that Ajimuddin and Sahidur, who were caught from Lilong Higher Secondary Madrasa, will be handed over to the Board.
Urging the Cyber Crime Unit of the State police to help in monitoring such activities, Angamba expressed desire for the Education Minister, Education Director as well as the authority concerned to take up necessary steps to prevent use of unfair practices during such major examinations.
Speaking to media persons, Ajimuddin revealed that he studied upto class VIII at Lilong Higher Secondary Madrasa, before going to Maharastra where he studied religious scriptures for around 10 years.
He claimed that after returning to the State, he got admitted in class IX in the school and as a result he is appearing the HSLC exam only now.
Ajimuddin also added that he occasionally went for classes during his class IX session but he is appearing the HSLC exam as an external student as he did not attend the school for even a single day.
