CCpur, IE take cleanliness pledge

Ccpur/Imphal, January 20 2018:
District administration of Churachandpur, in collaboration with District Water and Sanitation Committee, Churachandpur, organised a mass cleanliness drive in Churachandpur town area today.
The cleanliness drive, which was participated by numerous Government officials, village authorities and people of the district, was kicked off from HQ Veng, Churachandpur, near the official residence of the DC.
Speaking on the occasion, DC Churachandpur, Shyam Lal Poonia highlighted the importance of inculcating the spirit of selfless service for a cleaner and greener environment.
The cleanliness drive was carried out at different parts of the district and the participants were sensitized on the importance of maintaining cleanliness in the work place/localities.
Swachhta pledge was also administered to all the participants.
Thanking the people for their support to the drive, the DC also appealed to the people to take up the challenge of making Churachandpur the cleanest town in Manipur.
Imphal East District Administration, led by its DC, also carried out a mass cleanliness drive today, in light of the coming Republic Day celebration.
The cleanliness drive was carried out from Porompat crossing upto the DC office complex.
Cleanliness drives were also carried out at various Government offices in the district.
Speaking to media persons, Imphal East DC Th Chitra Devi said that the mass cleanliness drive has been organised as a part of the continuous effort to keep the district neat and clean.
She added that the drive was also organised with the coming Republic Day celebration in mind.
These cleanliness drives will encourage the employees and staff as well as the people to maintain cleanliness in the work place as well as their homes.
It will also help eliminate the bad habit of discarding wastes/garbage recklessly, she added.
The DC also lauded the staff and employees for volunteering in the cleanliness drive.
According to PHED Executive Engineer as well as Imphal East member secretary of Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin), K Rameshore, Swachh Bharat Mission which was introduced on October 2, 2014, will conclude on October 2, 2019.Under this mission, 15,000 poor and underprivileged households will be selected out of a total 77,000 households in Imphal East district and provided with sanitary latrine facilities.
Claiming that almost 80 percent of the said target has been achieved till date, he expressed hope that the project will reach its aim by the month of December, this year.
CMO Imphal East, Dr Kh Indra and District Agriculture Officer, N Sarat also conveyed that the drive taken up by the District Administration has been able to ensure clean and hygienic conditions at various parts of the district today.
Top officials and staff of PHED, Health, ZEO Zone II, Treasury, and Agriculture Departments, took part in the mass cleanliness drive.
