With Chief Secretary PC Lawmkunga in the chair, the State Level Coordination Committee held a meeting and discussed the forthcoming Parliamentary election.
Poll schedules for the Lok Sabha election are expected either at the end of the current month or the first week of March.
The meeting attended by CEO, DGP, Principal Secretary (Home), Principal Secretary (PHED), Principal Secretary (Health) and Principal Secretary (Works) deliberated on the State's preparations for the election, informed an official source.
Categorisation of polling stations was one agenda of the meeting.
During the last Parliamentary election of 2009, 506 polling stations were categorised as hyper sensitive, 1338 as sensitive and 349 as normal.
The number of sensitive polling stations is likely to grow this time.
Meanwhile, it is reported that Chief Secretary PC Lawmkunga, DGP Shahid Ahmed, CEO O Nabakishore, Principal Secretary (Home) Suresh Babu and police nodal office of the Lok Sabha election ADGP (L/O) LM Khaute would leave Imphal for New Delhi tomorrow to attend the meeting convened by the Election Commission of India on February 20 .
Deputy Election Commissioner Alok Sukla who is scheduled to arrive here on February 22 to take stock of the State's preparations for the Lok Sabha election has put off his trip to February 24 .
The Deputy Election Commissioner would meet and collect reports from DCs and SPs.
On the other hand, State and district level media certification and monitoring committees which would monitor media with specific reference to the Lok Sabha election have been constituted.
