To bring together the Government of Manipur and the Apunba Lup which is spearheading the ongoing agitation over the July 23 Khwairamband Bazar incident at the negotiating table for end end the present stand off , Senior Citizens for Society has started taking up necessary measures.
Talking to mediapersons today, secretary of the Society advocate Khaidem Mani informed that with both the parties reposing their faith of the Society, separate meetings had been held with the representatives of the Government and the co-ordinators of the Apunba Lup yesterday.
During the course of the meeting, the demands of the Apunba Lup have been brought to the notice of the Government representatives who gave the assurance of discussing the demands which can be considered as it would not be feasible to consider all the demands of the Apunba Lup and other agitating student bodies, Mani informed.
While the process for negotiation between the two parties is being made, it would be advisable on the part of the State Governmen and its police personnel to stop hunting for the leaders of the Apunba Lup and the latter should restrain of launching further agitation as interim measures, Khaidem Mani suggested, while appealing to all the guardians of the students, student leaders and other interested individuals for support and co-operation in the efforts being made by the Society.
