Imphal, July 16 2011:
Ten highest mark scorers of Sadar Hills in this year's HSLC Exam and Higher Secondary Exam were presented meritorious awards at Presidency College, Motbung today.
The prize distribution function was jointly organised by the Thadou Students' Association, Sadar Hills and World Vision, Sadar Hills.
Speaking at the occasion as chief guest, Education Minister DD Thaisii asked parents of the award winning students not to complacent with what their children got today.
Hailing the initiative of felicitating meritorious students, Thaisii stated that the onus of bringing quality education cannot be fulfilled by the Government alone.
It demands full cooperation from student bodies as well as parents, he said.
Surprised over the large number of students enrolled in Presidency College, the Education Minister noted shortfalls in the college infrastructure.
Assuring that he would look into what can be done to make up the infrastructure deficiency at the earliest, Thaisii stated that he would consult with MLA Haokholet Kipgen and see if anything can be done to build an office of Thadou Students' Association.
The function was also attended by Sadar Hills ADC CEO Chongpu Kipgen, S Seijang Haokip of ADP World Vision Sadar Hills and Presidency College Principal Dr Tingneichong Gangte.
