More condemn attack on Thaisii

Sharply reacting against the ambush laid on the cavalcade of Education Minister DD Thaisii at Rai Basti in Senapati district on November 12, a large number of civil society organisations have strongly condemned it.
The Minister was on his way to his native Purul village to inaugurate a community hall when the attack was launched.
The apex body of the Nagas in Manipur, the United Naga Council while expressing shock over the attack said that it has come as a great shock to the Naga people "at this point in time when dialogue and rapprochement both within and without the Naga community is the pressing need of the hour" .
Appealing to all to refrain from such acts of violence in the future, UNC in a statement said, "We appeal to all groups to refrain from such act of violence and bloodshed which would only vitiate the sharp divides being witnessed in the State of Manipur and strongly urge to seek resolution of all issues through peaceful means" .
The Core Committee of the Autonomous District Councils of Manipur (Chandel, Senapati, Ukhrul and Tamenglong) has urged all to condemn the attack on the Minister and his entourage.
In a statement, the Core Committee said that any misunderstanding can be brought to an understanding through mediation.
The Senapati District Students' Association, Poumai Naga Union, Poumai Naga Baptist Association, Poumai Naga Students' Union, Maram Students' Union, Purul Women Union, Purul Union, Poumai Naga Catholicmai Me, Lepaona Naga Catholicmai Me, Phungyar Block Congress Committee have also strongly condemned the attack on the Minister.
