Imphal, June 15 2014:
A three year and half old girl was allegedly raped by one immediate neighbour Bashir Ahmad (29) s/o late Iboyai of Kshetri Mamang Leikai, Kshetrigao at around 12.30 pm of June 10 .
After the alleged rape, people close to Bashir Ahmad has been repeatedly threatening the victim's family.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here today, Md Aslam representing the victim's family said that Bashir, taking advantage of a solitary situation, raped the minor at around 12.30 pm of June 10 .
Aslam also dismissed the claim that Bashir was mentally unsound.
In the past too, Bashir was involved in many cases of misbehaving with girls.
Saying that the victim's family is poor, Aslam said that the girl complained of acute pain in her private part while urinating to her mother who had just returned from market.
On further enquiry, it was learnt that Bashir raped the girl.
Disturbed and enraged by what she discovered, the girl's mother together with other family members went to Bashir's house.
There Bashir's younger brother Aamir Hussain flatly denied the rape charge and even accused the victim's family of making false allegations against Bashir taking advantage of
his mental condition.
The house of the accused was vandalised by people of the neighbourhood on June 10 itself.
Even as the matter was reported to Porompat police station, no FIR was registered for reasons best known to them, Aslam said.
Police suggested that the child should be examined.
Accordingly, the girl was taken to JNIMS and she was referred to RIMS.
But when the family took the girl to RIMS, no police personnel accompanied them.
In the absence of police, RIMS doctors refused to examine the girl and they asked the parents to come back next day together with police.
Police registered an FIR on June 11 after the intervention of the Young Women Help Organisation and the victim underwent medical examination on June 12.But the medical report was not given to the victim's family.
When the family went to police to take a copy of the FIR on June 14, the medical examination report was found there and the report said that there was no injury on the girl's body.
This indicated that the report was manipulated in connivance between Bashir and police personnel, Aslam alleged.
He also appealed to all concerned to investigate into the case and ensure that justice prevails.
In the mean- time, house of the victim's uncle was not only vandalised but also attacked with a volley of stones at night, he added.
