Handyman of a truck who was abducted by suspected cadres of KRA (U) from Changoubung along NH 2 under Kangpokpi police station has been rescued by a combined
security team.
A police source informed that Senapati district police, particularly personnel of Kangpokpi PS and troops of 43 Assam Rifles succeeded in rescuing the abducted handyman from Kheljang village near Motbung at about 1 pm today.
The handyman was abducted by suspected cadres of KRA(U) in the wee hours of yesterday morning.
The handyman was heading to Imphal together with driver Wahengbam Dillip (25) of Kanglatongbi in a truck when they were halted by unidentified armed persons who looted all the goods from the truck.
The truck was bringing rice to Imphal.
Even though security forces succeeded in rescuing the driver, the armed persons whisked away the handyman.
Notably, goods looted from the truck were recovered from a nearby school yesterday itself.
