KLA forces villager to withdraw land dispute case

One Yamkhilal Lumding of Dampi village under Churachandpur district has alleged that the Kuki Liberation Army (KLA), Touthang group has kidnapped him and forced him to sign for the withdrawal of a case regarding the village land dispute.
Speaking to the media here at Manipur Press Club today, Yamkholal Lumding said for several times KLA cadres were coming to look for him and since he had strong apprehension of the ill motive of KLA despite being a signatory of the Suspension of Operation (SoO), used to evade the meeting the outfit.
However, on July 11, while he was at the Chief Judicial Magistrate (Court), Churachandpur, the KLA cadres who came in three vehicles and waited for him outside the court.
He was later kidnapped from a nearby tea hotel and took him elsewhere where he was forced to sign for the withdrawal of the case related to land dispute in his village, Yamkholal said.
He also appealed to the government not allow the underground groups under SoO to have arms with them because these armed militants go around intimidating people.
