125th birth anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar Year-long observance concludes

The year-long observation of the 125th birth anniversary of late Dr BR Ambedkar conducted by Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) concluded today at Congress Bhavan, BT Road, Imphal.
The observation was attended by the CM O Ibobi as the chief guest, Dy CM Gaikhangam as the guest of honour and president of MPCC TN Haokip as the functional president.
Ministers, MPs, MLAs, office bearers of MPCC, leaders of the frontal bodies and cells, councillors of municipalities and district councils, Congress leaders and workers attended the function.
Floral tribute was paid to the portrait of one of the greatest leaders of India and later the National Song 'Vande Mataram' was also sung by Congress workers as part of the observation.

Highlighting the works of Dr BR Ambedkar, CM O Ibobi stated that without the works of the late leader, India would not have had such an illustrious Constitution.
He worked for the betterment of the minority and so introduced the Directive Principle of State Policy to give protection to minority communities.
He added that Dr BR Ambedkar played a pivotal role as the Chairman of the Drafting Committee of the Indian Constitution to bring unity and peace among the diverse ethnic communities of India.
The Congress party regards the great leader as the founding father of modern India.
He said that all Congress party members and workers should work to fulfil the dreams of the late leader of a unified India where there is unity in diversity.
"When there is unity and progress, such celebration will be meaningful," Ibobi said.
Functional president TN Haokip, said that Dr BR Ambedkar is the messiah and a saviour of the downtrodden Indian citizens.
He added that the late leader is also the founder of modern Buddhism in India.
Dy CM Gaikhangam said that Dr BR Ambedkar tried to free India from all forms of inequality.
Inequalities based on caste, creed, religion or sex is the major obstacle in bringing peace and development, he stated.
"On this auspicious day, let us take an oath to stop all forms of social inequalities," said Gaikhangam.
His holistic approach should be encouraged by each and everyone to bring a change in the world, he added.
