Imphal, November 12 2017:
All Tribal Disables' Union Manipur (ATDUM), Federation of All Tribal Youth Clubs Manipur (FATYCM), All Tribal Chief Forum Manipur (ATCFM), Tribal Youth Council Manipur (TYCM), Zeliangrong-Baudi (AMN), Zeliangrong Students' Union Manipur (ZSUM), and All Tribals Rights Protection Forum (ATRPF), Manipur have strongly rejected the 'misleading press statements' regarding TA&Hills (TRI) and targeting an individual by AMSU in the media at the behest of one individual who was said to be recommended by MPSC forthe non-existent post of Deputy Director, TRI.
In a joint statement, the tribal bodies said that the matter regarding appointment of Deputy Director (TRI) is closed with a Government's order of August 1, 2017.However, it is very unfortunate that AMSU is still pressuring the Govt to review/reconsider the particular Government's order based on wrong information fed by one individual who uses AMSU's office for his selfish gains.
AMSU's protest including locking of the offices of the TRI.
Principal Secretary (TA&H).
and Director (TA&H), aiid releasing a number of misleading press statements are serious blunders done at the behest of an individual, said the tribal bodies.
The act of locking the TRI office, Principal Secretary (TA&H), and Director (TA&H), and undue interference in the matter of tribals is a direct provocation and challenge to the tribal communities of the State, and the tribal organisations view it seriously, it said.
And if AMSU repeat such acts in future, the tribal organisations would not remain silent spectators but reciprocate promptly, it cautioned.
It asked whether AMSU is above the law and if AMSU is promoting mob culture.
It then urged the Govt of Manipur not to give a free hand to AMSU to continue their illogical protest against the said Government's decision of August 1, 2017 in connection with the appointment of Deputy Director, TRI in any manner.
In case the Government fails to intervene at the earliest, there will be a direct confrontation between AMSU and tribal organisations without any reservation any time and the responsibility should be borne by the Govt of Manipur, it warned.
AMSU and Ng Pikeshwor must learn to respect the law of the land and honour the Government's decision, it said while also asking AMSU to immediately stop fooling the public by circulating false statements targeting to tarnish the reputation of some individuals without proper knowledge.
It will harm none, except belittling the organisation's name and it also asked AMSU to stop poking nose in TA & Hills (TRI) department which does not concern their office at all.
It also appealed to all right thinking student bodies and CSOs to avoid getting involved in cheap politics and propaganda out of silly and petty matter in future.
"Instead, let us promote sense of universal brotherhood for peaceful coexistence," it said.
The act of AMSU in this matter in particular has crossed the limit and AMSU must immediately withdraw their protest in this regard once and for all before any untoward incident occurs as all the allegations levelled against the Government and individuals are unfounded and misleading, it said.
Recounting the genesis of the problem, the tribal bodies in the lengthy statement also dismissed the allegation that Dr Gaikhamsin Riamei is related with the former Commissioner (TA&Hills). It also thanked the BJP let Govt.for taking a clear decision and order made by the Department (TA&H/TRI), Govt.of Manipur.
Despite the Government's clear decision, it is very unfortunate AMSU is releasing a number of misleading press statement time and again even targeting invidual by charging false allegation against Dr.Gaikhamsis Riamei, it added.
