AR, CRPF plant more saplings in State

Imphal, July 12 2020:
Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) organised large scale tree plantation today as part of a National Tree Plantation Drive.
The drive was organised to conserve the environment.
The year 2020 has also been designated as the 'Year of Humanitarian Face of CAPF' by MHA, said IGAR (S) in a statement.
Major General Alok Naresh, spearheaded the plantation drive by planting a sapling in Mantripukhri Garrison early in the morning, followed by plantation by various Assam Rifles troops all across Manipur, it said adding that a total of 31,000 saplings of locally available flora which includes teak, pine, mulberry, guava, jackfruit and banana among others were prepared by establishing nurseries at Mantripukhri, Keithelmanbi, Pallel, Kakching, Ukhrul, Churachandpur and other locations.
It also said that all Company Operating Bases of the Battalions situated even in the remote areas planted saplings at their respective locations including villages along Indo-Myanmar Border.
Assam Rifles in Manipur has earlier also planted almost 2 lakh trees in 2020 in Manipur.
All precautionary measures against the threat of COVID-19 including social distancing, wearing of masks were observed during the drive, the statement added.
CRPF
As a part of "Akhil Bhartiya Vracharopan Abhiyan'', 143 Bn CRPF which is deployed in Imphal, Noney and Tamenglong districts also organized a plantation drive in the Unit HQ at Lamphelpat and other sub units.
Lamkhokam Lhoujem, Commandant of 143 Bn CRPF himself led the mega plantation drive event along with Dr GK Kabui CMO (SG), Ravindra Kumar Mallik (2I/C), M Hazra (D/C), M Santosh Singh (D/C) and all Unit personnel of 143 Bn.
A total of 2300 saplings were planted today.
Troops of 109Bn CRPF under the aegis of IGP Manipur and Nagaland sector also planted 2,300 saplings at Monsangei, today.
A press release issued by the Commandant of 109 Bn CRPF said that saplings were also given to denizens of Monsangei for plantation.
At the plantation programme, Commandant of 109 Bn CRPF emphasised the need to spread awareness regarding the need to protect and maintain a healthy and green environment.
The Commandant also thanked the Civil Administration, Forest Department and volunteers of the Sun Club for helping the 109 Bn in conducting the plantation drive.
On the other hand, a statement issued by the Commandant of 32 Bn CRPF, NHPC Loktak Churachandpur said that Union Home and Directorate CRPF New Delhi conducted a mass tree plantation drive at Gurugram, Haryana, today.
32 Bn CRPF also planted saplings at Unit HQR, Loktak Project Churachandpur and its companies located at Leimatak, Jeevan Nagar, Lamdan, Awang Bazar and Ithai Barrage area, it added.
