The Marem Village Authority has clarified on the allegation of artificial price due to deplorable road condition along the NH-102, reports Mungchan Zimik.
Speaking to reporters at UDWJA office, Marem village headman W Lungranwo stated that the NH-202 is maintenance by BRTF, Ukhrul and expresses disappointment over the negligence of BRTF.
Since 2012, portion NH-202 stretch near Marem has sunk.
Marem VA for this matter had consulted BRTF officer concerned for immediate intervention.
In 2014, a 300-metre road diversion was constructed however drainage, culvert and singling works are yet to be initiated.
He added that private land owners were also requested to offer land for construction of new road diversion considering the interest of the public.
The village has permitted quarrying of stone as a part of their support and co-operation to the BRTF for timely completion of the road NH-202 diversion road.
He also said that Marem village received Rs 3 lakh in 2014 for land development and the amount was utilized for construction of village playground.
As long as BRTF, Ukhrul does not initiate reparation/construction work, transporters and commuters would continue to face the hardships, the headman said.
