Imphal, May 12 2014 :
Responding to the complaints and demands of CPI and BJP for repoll in all polling stations of Thoubal A/C and 17/7 Khonghampat polling station where Congress supporters allegedly indulged in electoral malpractices, the Election Commission of India has ruled out any repoll.
The Chief Electoral Officer has received an official intimation from the ECI to this effect, informed an official source.
The written intimation mentioned that the complaints filed by CPI candidate Dr M Nara and BJP candidate Dr RK Ranjan have been investigated through the CEO's office and ECI-appointed observers.
The ECI decided not hold any repoll after studying the reports and attached materials it received.
Notably, counting of votes for both Inner Manipur P/C and Outer Manipur P/C has been scheduled on May 16 and the ECI has already appointed 18 observers to monitor the counting process.
