New Delhi, December 11 2016:
Elections could be possibly conducted in the five States next year in February.
The five States are Uttar Pradesh, Punjab , Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur.
According to a Jagran report, the Election Commission (EC) has decided to announce the election dates of all five States together.
As per reports, Election Commission can announce the election date at any point of time and even the State Government officials have been asked to be up on their toes regarding this.
Punjab, Goa, Manipur and Uttarakhand Assembly tenure will end in March 2017, while UP's Assembly tenure will end in the month of May 2017 .
Earlier, speculations were being made of conducting elections at the start of next year, but a clear picture is yet to arrive on this.
Just three days ago, The Hindu reported, the Election Commission had asked the five poll-bound States to decide the date for annual exams and submit it to them for their knowledge, as the election shouldn't clash with the examinations.
EC requires schools, various classrooms and even teachers for conducting elections.
