Imphal, July 11 2015 :
The Indi-genous Minority Socio-Cultural Organisation, Manipur (IMSCOM) has joined the popular demand for imple-mentation of ILP .
IMSCOM president TB Momsokom Purum endorsed the people's demand stating that implementation of Inner Line Permit would protect the indigenous people from the incessant influx of migrants.
The State has its own unique culture and tradition.
The hills and the valley have been co-existing and upholding their unique cultures and traditions.
The unchecked influx of non-locals in the State has, however, posed a threat to the minority group of people.
With ILP, the indigenous people could retain its tradition without fear of getting overwhelmed, Momsokom Purum stated.
She said the protests and the fatality could have been avoided had the State Government acted according to the will of its people.
Robinhood would not have died if the State forces were properly trained to control mobs.
The State Government's attempt to subdue the protests by imposing curfew in the State would only worsen the situation, Momsokom stated.
Purum Likli, Aimol, Kom, Maring, Thangal, Koireng, Chiru, Kharam and Meitei communities who have been working together with the IMSCOM and Indigenous Minority Organisation, Mani-pur (IMOM) have been taking part in the popular movement for implementation of ILP in the State.
Both Imphal East and Imphal West are under indefinite curfew at present.
