Chief Justice holds forth on Lok Adalat

Justice Abhilasha Kumari, Chief Justice High Court of Manipur, has stated that the National Lok Adalat is being held to dispose the pending cases as well as to bring logical and amicable solution to deliver justice to the people.
She made the statement during her visit to Lamphel Court complex today along with Justice N Kotiswar and Justice Kh Nobin and Registrar General High Court of Manipur, A Guneshor Sharma, to inspect the process of National Lok Adalat in the complex.
Lauding Manipur State Legal Services Authority for organising National Lok Adalat successfully in the State, she said that Legal Services Authority has taken up the initiative of bringing amicable solutions in cases which would normally take years or even generations to complete in a short period of time through logical conclusion.

She congratulated Manipur State Legal Services Authority for taking up the initiative of holding National Lok Adalat and also thanked the judiciary officers, advocates, staff of various subordinate Courts of the State and law college students who are helping in disposing the cases during the National Lok Adalat.
She also inspected the infrastructure available at Lamphel Court complex during her visit today.
Meanwhile Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA) organised National Lok Adalat at Lamphel Court complex today for both Imphal East and Imphal West districts.
A press release issued by the in-charge Additional Member Secretary of MASLSA, stated that various pending cases as well as pre-litigation cases were taken up in the said National Lok Adalat for amicable settlements.
The National Lok Adalat was also held in Thoubal, Bishnupur, Ukhrul, Senapati, Churachandpur, Chandel, Tamenglong and Moreh by the respective District Legal Services Authorities.
High Court Legal Services Committee, High Court of Manipur also organised National Lok Adalat at High Court complex, Mantripukhri today.
It pointed out that in the said National Lok Adalat, a total of 460 cases were settled with a total settlement of Rs 3,54,18,369 .
418 out of the total 460 are pre-litigation matters comprised of bank recovery cases, BSNL cases, cases under Motor Vehicles Act etc and 42 cases are pending cases.
It mentioned that Lok Adalat ensures speedy disposal by amicable settlement between the involved parties and saves valuable time for the parties, their witnesses and also facilitates inexpensive and prompt remedy which is appropriate for both the parties.
MASLSA further expressed gratitude to all the judicial officers, Advocates, staff for their contribution in the success of the National Lok Adalat.
