Dispelling any doubt on the reported split within the organisation, the Working Committee of Apunba Lup (WCAL) informed that International Human Rights Day will be observed on December 10 in association with United Nations Association, Manipur under the theme 'Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act 1958 and Militarization in Manipur'.
Interacting with news persons at AMSU headquarters today evening, WCAL coordinator K Sunil said the observance will be in pursuit of continued resistance against imposition of AFSPA in Manipur and would be attended by 33 representatives of organisations from Jiribam division and Cachar district of Assam.
He also contended that in compliance with suggestions of the general public civil disobedience movements had been resumed through re-imposition of ban on NCC activities and Hindi text books throughout the State's educational institutions.
Denying split within the 32 body conglomerate Sunil asserted of necessary steps being initiated to identify impostors and to punish them accordingly for misusing name of Apunba Lup.
Endorsing Sunil's version on unity of the Lup, Amsu president Ksh Umesh, who is also a WCAL coordinator cautioned the public against deceitful ploy of adversary forces while terming obscurity of the people regarding the Apunba Lup as divergence from broader path and appealed to all concerned against attempting to deceive emotional feeling of the masses.
Joining the interaction, MAFYF president Kangleipal highlighted that even though India is a signatory of universal Declaration of Human Rights Manipur still continues to reel under different form of suppression.
The purpose of WCAL observing International Human Rights Day is aimed at spreading message of suffering of the Manipuri people to the global forum, he added.
Meanwhile, the Manipur Tennis Ball Association pledging support to the proposed rally to demand, complete removal of draconian acts from State also informs members of affiliated units to join at the Apunba Lup sponsored rally to mark International Human Rights Day on December 10.The International-Human Rights Day will be also be observed at JN Hospital conference hall under the joint auspices of Institute of Social Health Action, and Development, Kwakeithel Bazar and Nurses Association Manipur on December 10 at 10 am.
