Imphal, February 08 2016:
The proscribed UNLF's Military Affairs Committee (MAC) has conveyed best greetings to all the people of Manipur on the occasion of the 29th raising day Manipur People's Army (MPA), the armed wing of the outfit.
A statement issued by MAC Chairman Kh Pambei conveyed gratitude to all the people for their continuous support to the MPA in its struggle for restoration of the lost sovereignty of Manipur.
The main objective of the revolutionary movement of Manipur is liberation of the people from the alleged colonial yoke.
However, the pace of the revolutionary movement has lost some of its steam in the last few years in tandem with the diminishing number of strikes against adversary forces by revolutionary groups of the land.
Follies committed by revolutionary cadres in the past is another main factor for the inability to add momentum to the liberation movement.
Many revolutionary groups of the region which were waging wars of liberation have been exploring solutions within the Constitution of India.
In Manipur too, some pseudo revolutionary groups groomed by Indian military forces have surrendered to the alien regime in pursuit of some selfish ends, said the statement.
At the same time, these pseudo revolutionaries have been committing all kinds of anti-social activities in the name of genuine revolutionaries.
Under such circumstances, the line dividing pseudo revolutionaries from genuine revolutionaries has blurred and many people seem to be assuming that both pseudo revolutionaries and genuine revolutionaries are one and alike.
It is one fundamental reason for the people's diminishing faith in the revolutionary movement.
For the enormous socio-economic and political roles shouldered by Manipuri women at the domestic front and in society at large, they deserve a high pedestal of dignity and respect.
But the dignity and modesty of women in Manipur including minor girls are being violated wantonly.
Even though men cannot supplant women's duties and roles in the society, very few people have given any serious thought to the status of Manipuri women in the contemporary society.
It's time for the community and the masses to punish all those men who have been committing violence against women, Pambei asserted.
The divide and rule policy of the Government of India which is guided by a nefarious design to draw unbridgeable lines of division among ethnic communities of Manipur has thrown a serious challenge to the unity of the masses.
Immigrants have started posing a serious challenge to the identity, culture and economy of the indigenous people thereby breeding a deep rooted sense of insecurity among the people.
All internal issues of Manipur can be settled through peaceful negotiation and dialogue.
It is the interference of Government of India which has been keeping all sorts of possible solution elusive apart from polarising the people on ethnic line.
Nothing can be more malicious than the Framework Agreement signed by India with NSCN-IM by putting Manipur at the position of a scapegoat.
Any solution to the issue of NSCN-IM should be confined within the territory of Nagaland.
If New Delhi commits any fait accompli against the collective interest of the people of Manipur, UNLF will fight in the forefront in association with the masses.
It is time for the masses to introspect on the changes witnessed in Manipur during the past 67 years since it was brought under the Indian rule.
People should ponder on their identity, security, prospect for prosperity and the right to self-determination.
The outfit further called upon the masses to think about the 7/8 lakh unemployed youth of the land and their fates.
At the same time, the educated, unemployed youth should also give serious thoughts on how they can contribute to the welfare of the society.
