Protests condemn Sangakpham blast

A sit-in-protest was held at the Kwakeithel office premises of All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) in condemnation of the August 1 bomb blast in Sangakpham Bazar area while a large of people took park in the Mangani Leihul observance of Thokchom Neha Devi, a class III student who was among five killed in the powerful explosion.
The religious event along with mourning rally began from Chingmeirong Primary School, where Neha was studying, with offering of floral tribute to the young victim's photo and proceeded upto the blast site after circling Khongnang Ani Karak, Chingmeirong.
The rally culminated at the Chingmeirong Awang Leikai residence of Neha.
The protest rally was held under the joint aegis of the JAC formed in connection with the blast and student body All Manipur Students' Union.
The protest demonstration staged at the AMUCO office, included its advisor Th Iboyaima among the participants.
Several placards and banners put up at the protest site denounced the Government of India's inaction against the NSCN (IM) inspite of holding the rebel outfit responsible for the Sangakpham blast that killed five persons and wounded eight others.
The placards also highlighted other violent incidents carried out by the armed group in the past few years.
