Though the quality of the content and possible harmful effect on human consumption of the Rs 10 cost packaged juice manufactured by Keventer Agro Ltd under the license of Paxle Agro Pvt Limited have not yet been tested in any laboratory, a complaint has been lodged with the Consumers' Club, Manipur following detection of sticky and smelly substances spilling out from Appy packages available in the market.
Addressing a press conference in this connection at the office of the Consumers' Club located at Paona Bazar here today, Club president W Manglem informed that the complaint has been lodged after one Soraisam Thoiba s/o Soraisam Tompok of 2nd MR complex noticed sticky and smelly substances on a Appy package he bought from a shop in Nagamapal area today.
Along with registering a case, Club members had gone to Truss Enterprises at Thangal Bazar which is the agent of the Appy manufacturing company in Manipur and came across many such similar packages, Manglem said, while cautioning the public against consumption of Appy before a laboratory test of its content.
While conveying that the manufacturing date of the Appy package in question is 13/4/2009, Manglem said that based on the complaint and the report furnished by the agent of the manufacturing company, the said package would be handed over to State Health Authority for a proper laboratory test under the Prevention of Food Adulteration Act, 1954 .
