Farmers urged to insure crops

Imphal, April 06 2016:
One-day farmers' fair cum awareness programme on Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana was held today at KVK, Churachandpur.
Speaking at the programme, Joint Director of ICAR Manipur Centre, Dr Narendra Prakash urged farmers to insure their crops against natural disaster through Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana.
He said that 80 percent of the total population of the country is engaged in agriculture and allied activities.
The Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana has been launched for the welfare of the farmers.

Dr Prakash also said that rampant deforestation is a threat to the environment.
The programme organised by KVK, Churachandpur was attended amongst others by T Khaikhomang, Finance Committee chairperson of ADC, Churachandpur, Addl DC of Ccpur K Simte, AGM of NABARD T Guite as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
