Imphal, July 04 2017:
The NSCN-K has expressed deep pain and sorrow at the demise of UNLF Vice-Chairman A Wangpa .
"At this hour of pain and loss, the NSCN-K shares the bereavement equally with the UNLF comrades and the families of the deceased leader A Wangpa", conveyed a press release issued by the outfit's MIP .
While mourning the departure, the NSCN-K is honoured and privileged to have shared a platform with a veteran leader who maintained a very special bond and confidential relationship with the Nagas and NSCN-K leadership in particular .
Late A Wangpa joined the UNLF in 1975 and had been closely associated with the NSCN-K both personally and officially since the early formative years specially when NSCN had initially been struggling to establish bases in Eastern Nagaland .
"Through thick and thin, in every situation and predicaments, he stood with us and also played a key role in promoting strategic partnerships and unity among the revolutionaries of the region and in the formation of Indo-Burma Revolutionary Front (IBRF) alongside our late president SS Khaplang", it said .
"Losing a pioneering and a visionary leader in the person of A Wangpa during these challenging times is a big jolt not only to UNLF but the entire fraternity.
He is irreplaceable and the void will always be there but the exemplary dedication and his exceptional commitment to the cause shall always be an inspiration to all of us", it added.
