Medical Cum Eye Camp Organised By Red Shield Division At Behang

A mass health camp was organized by 27 Sector Assam Rifles on 03 Feb 2011. The medical camp was organized at Behang, the remote village of the Churachandpur district being located in the close proximity to the international border.
The camp was conceived keeping in view the poor connectivity in the area as the people have to traverse miles for basic medical care in the region and was an effort to address the health concerns of the people of the area.
The camp encompassed various activities and offered assistance in the form of free medical treatment by experienced doctors, including a free eye check up by a team from RIMS, Imphal.
There were series of requests from the locals in the region with eye problems for arranging an eye camp.
30 Assam Rifles under the aegis of 27 Sector Assam Rifles worked on the request including it as a major Army MCA project and carried out continuous liaison with Prof Y Mohen, Superintendent of RIMS.
The Medical Camp was undertaken by a team of doctors from 30 Assam Rifles and Dr Uttam, Eye Specialist RIMS with a team of three technicians.
The team with the eye specialist carried out free of cost eye testing of the ailing locals and eye glasses sponsored from Red Shield Division including a case were distributed to all affected villagers.
The camp saw an overwhelming and positive response with over 200 people attending the camp including women and children.
The team of doctors and medical assistants addressed the locals and gave them advice on everyday hygiene practices.
The camp was a huge success with the local populace and helped in fortifying the belief of the people of Churachandpur in the efforts of the Security Forces towards the betterment of the people of Churachandpur.
