Imphal, November 02 2017:
Even though the National Food Security Act was implemented in the State from April of last year with an aim to provide food grains to the deserving beneficiaries at subsidised rate, Councillor of Keishamthong AC Ward No 13, Oinam Romio has contended that not a single beneficiary of the assembly constituency has received ration card for availing the benefit under the ambitious Act .
Talking to newspersons at Pishum today, Romio urged the Chief Minister and CAF&PD Minister to look into the matter seriously and ensure that all the beneficiaries of Keishamthong AC get the benefit like in other constituencies .
He said that the beneficiaries of Keishamthong AC have been deprived of the benefit due to absence of ration card which is much required .
He appealed to the concerned authority to distribute PDS items including rice, kerosene and sugar to the beneficiaries by providing them with ration card and opening Fair Price Shops in the constituency at the earliest .
A missive with regard to the non-availability of NFSA ration card for the beneficiaries was submitted each to the DC Imphal West and DSO but no step has been taken up to do the needful, the Councillor rued.
