Guwahati, February 02 2013 :
The Youth Forum on Foreign Policy (YFFP) has organized a daylong
conference The Maitree Summit 2013, India Bangladesh High Potential
Leader's Dialogue on Peace in Guwahati today.
The 2013 Maitree Summit
is the first of a series of conferences that YFFP intends to hold with
India's neighboring states.
The event is supported by the British
Foreign and Commonwealth Office, British Deputy High Commissioner,
Kolkata and Embassy of Bangladesh in India.
The summit include panel
discussion, cultural visits, and interactions with senior
representatives of Govt.of Assam including the Chief Minister Mr
Tarun Gogoi, Minister of Tourism Mr Chandan Brahma and The Minister of
Power Mr Pradyut Bordoloi.
Main theme of the Summit is focus on
International Relations, Industry, Education, Socio-economic
development and Governance.
Political and industry leaders from both India and Bangladesh
addressed the summit held at Royal Group of Institutions.
The
inaugural panel discussion was graced by the Honorable Chief Minister
of Assam Mr.Tarun Gogoi.
The Chief Minister welcomed the initiatives
taken by YFFP to organise this much needed summit and congratulated
for the effort to bring together the high potential leaders from both
countries to discuss various issues.
The Indian speaker panel included
Sanjay Wadvani, British Deputy High Commissioner, Prabir De, Research
& Information System for Developing Countries; Rahul Manchandani,
Founder President of CommonwealthAsia Alliance of Young
Entrepreneurs; Maya Manchandani, Foreign Affairs Editor at NDTV;
Harsh Vardhan Shringla, Joint Secretary BSM, Ministry of External
Affairs, Govt of India, Hasina Kharbhih, CEO Impulse Social
Enterprises, Nitin Pai, Fellow Geopolitics, Takshashila India; Rajeev
Chaturvedy, Head Foreign Policy Division, FICCI; RK Imo Singh, MLA,
Manipur; Jarpum Gamlin, CEO, Eastern Sentinal.
On the other hand the Bangladesh delegation team will be accompanied
by Raheed Ejaz, Diplomat Correspondent, Daily Prothom; Ifty Islam, MD,
Asian Tiger Capital Partner; Syeda Enam Khan, Research Director,
Bangladesh Enterprise Institute, Asif Saleh, Senior Director, BRAC;
Mohammad A.Arafat, ED, Shuchinta Foundation; Shahriaar Alam, MP,
Bangladesh; Shazzad Haider, Bangladesh Awami Juba League; Dr.Anwara
Begum Senior Reasearch Fellow , Bangladesh Institute of Development
Studies; Mr.Shahab Enam Khan, Reasearch Director, Bangladesh
Enterprise Institute.
The dignitaries will discuss on various issues
of common interest from the point of both India and Bangladesh to pave
way for long term mutually beneficial tie up and growth.
Mr.Gaurav
Gogoi, Secretary, Youth Forum on Foreign Policy welcomed all the
dignitaries and hoped the discussion taken place in the summit will be
carried forward and impacts the strategic development for mutual
prosperity.
The organiser Youth Forum on Foreign Policy (YFFP) India is an initiative that seeks to develop an informed and substantive dialogue
on foreign policy issues among India's youth and to ensure that
India's foreign policy is more responsive to the concerns of the
youth.
It endeavours to connect Foreign Policy Stakeholders and youth
groups from India and abroad on the same platform to discuss specific
thematic and regional foreign policy issues.
The forum is headed by
Gaurav Gogoi, Secretary; Shailey Hingorani, President and Rohan
Mukherjee.
At present the forum has its presence in Mumbai, Kolkata, Banagalore and Guwahati.
The summit is managed by Tattva Creations, the premier event
management organization based in Guwahati.
