Mushroom cultivation training programme held

A 3 day training programme on mushroom cultivation for the Pradhan Mahtri Van Dhan Vikas Yojana SHG members was held at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Chandel district, today.
The training programme was jointly organised by the Forest Department, Chandel and Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Chandel.
It was participated by 50 members from 7 Van Dhan Vikas Yojana (VDVY) of Chandel district.
The Pradhan Mantri Van Dhan Vikas Yojana is a scheme for promoting tribal enterprises through value addition, processing and marketing of forest resources.
The inaugural programme was attended by SL Niangthianhoi, MFS Assistant Conservator of Forest, Chandel Forest Division and Dr Deepak Singh, Sr Scientist & Head, ICAR-KVK Chandel as presidium members.
SL Niangthianhoi stated that the tribal people are dependent on forest products and considering the request from the SHG members for training on mushroom cultivation and value addition, the Forest Department in association with KVK Chandel organised the programme to promote entrepreneurship among the SHG members and generate income, he added.
Dr Deepak Singh mentioned that the training will double the farmers' income and the cultivation of Oyster Mushroom will sustain the livelihood of the farmers.
Staff of the Forest Department, Chandel and KVK Chandel also attended the programme.
