Imphal, November 30 2015:
Ching Tam United Women Association (CHITUWA) has decried the alleged forceful immersion of Aimol tribe into the Naga fold against the wishes of the Aimol people.
CHITUWA said that the Aimol people have democratic rights to remain as they are and to preserve their own identity and culture.
No groups/organizations have the right to interfere in their decision-making process.
It also appealed to the State Government to look into the matter as it is the future of Aimol tribe which is at stake.
The subjugation of minority people will lead to nowhere and all must learn to love and respect one another as brothers and sisters, according to a statement issued by the President, CHITUWA.
The International Peace and Social Advancement (IPSA) has also decried the alleged forceful immersion of Aimol tribe into the Naga fold.
IPSA said that if people start selling themselves for their own selfish gains, then one's identity will be lost, according to the secretary, IPSA.
It further appealed to the bigger tribes to respect the smaller tribes and give them their due space.
