Governor, CM and others greet on Ningol Chakkouba

Governor Najma Heptulla has extended greetings to all the Manipuri Ningols of the State and also those residing in different parts of the world.
"The festival, orginally observed by the Meitei community, has now been embraced by other communities in Manipur and that serves as a testimony to the increasing unity and integration in the State.
With the celebration of Ningol Chakkouba, let there be respect towards Manipuri women and all women at large and contribute in building a society free from any crime against women," Governor Najma Heptulla said in a statement.
Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh has also extended warm greetings to the people of Manipur on the joyous occasion of Ningol Chakkouba.
Ningol Chakkouba symbolises the celebration of the unbreakable bond of love between brothers and sisters and affection of parents for their daughters.
The celebration is now extended to other communities and tribes in Manipur thereby reinforcing unity amidst diversity in the State, the Chief Minister said.
"Let us imbibe the ideals associated with this festival to foster the spirit of amity, harmony and goodwill in our lives," he added.
Speaker Th Lokeshwar also wished the people of Manipur on the occasion of Ningol Chakkouba.
"May all the women of Manipur be bestowed with unconditional love of their parents, brothers and sisters," the Speaker said.
