Ration for AMWJU members

The members of the All Manipur Working Journalist Union (AMWJU) will be granted rations of 50 kg rice each.
All the members of AMWJU have been requested to get a receipt from the Manipur Press Club to avail the opportunity.
Speaking to mediapersons during a press meet held at Manipur Press Club, president AMWJU Wangkhemcha Shamjai informed that the opportunity would be given to around 280 journalists under the Journalists Welfare Scheme and PDS through AMWJU.
CAF and PD Minister M Oken has agreed to sanction 200 quintal of rice which would be distributed to 280 journalists, at 50 kg each at the rate of Rs 9.30 per kg.
The total cost for each share would be Rs 450 including labour charge for loading and unloading.
Therefore, AMWJU members have been informed to get the receipt from October 1 to 3, he stated.
He also clarified that it is different from that of the Media House.
The Media House distribution would remain as it is.
Also, DIPR card holder journalists who are under 45 years of age have been informed that they are eligible to enrol for the pension scheme which started in March 1996.Eligible journalists may get the enrolment form at Manipur Press Club, he added.
He further said that there are some people who are taking the benefits that are being provided exclusively for journalists and pressmen by pretending to be a pressman.
