Large tracts of poppy plantations destroyed

Imphal, January 31 2023:
A total of 48 acres of poppy plantations were destroyed by law enforcing agencies at different places today under the War on Drugs drive of the State Government.
Kangpokpi district police and Forest Department destroyed 12 acres of poppy plantation at Kangchup reserved forest.
A combined team of Tengnoupal district police, Forest Department and NAB also destroyed 24 acres of poppy plantation at the hill range of Khudei Khullen.
Further, a combined team of Tousem police, Forest Department, Kuki Students' Organisation, KKL, Kaimai Kuki Women's Wing and Kaimai Kuki village authority carried out a poppy destruction drive at Kaimai Kuki hill range under Tousem police station.
Around seven acres of poppy plantation were destroyed during the drive.
Senapati district police too destroyed five acres of poppy plantation at Ngatan village.
It is also reported that Ngatan villagers have destroyed around 30 acres of poppy plantation voluntarily.
