Martyr's Day observed

Imphal, January 30, 2012:
As observed across the country, the Martyr's Day was observed at the State level here today at GM Hall in commemoration of the death anniversary of Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi.
The main feature of the commemorative function was offering of floral tributes to the bust of Mahatma Gandhi.
The function commenced with observance of two minutes' silence in honour of the departed soul of Mahatma Gandhi.
A similar commemorative function was also organised by MPCC where its chief Gaikhangam led Congress workers in paying floral tributes to the photograph of Mahatma Gandhi.

At GM Hall, the commemorative function was graced by Governor Gurbachan Jagat as chief guest and Chief Minister O Ibobi as president.
The function was also attended by Assembly Speaker I Hemochandra, top civil and police officers as well as the general public.
