Imphal, May 29 2012:
Baggage rules and other regulations for movement of passengers on the proposed Imphal-Mandalay bus service would be adopted from the Agartala-Dhaka bus service.
An official source informed that movement of passengers and baggages between Agartala and Dhaka is handled by the Agartala Land Custom Station.
The Commissioner of Customs (Preventive), North East Region, Shillong has already intimated the Deputy Commissioner, Customs Division, Imphal to send two Superintendents and four Inspectors to Agartala on rotational basis and learn the process being followed in the Land Customs Station there.
International bus service between Agartala and Dhaka was introduced for the first time in North East India on September 17, 2003 .

This was followed by the initiatives to introduce Imphal-Mandalay bus service.
In accordance to the written intimation sent by the Commissioner of Customs (Preventive), Shillong to Deputy Commissioner, Customs Division, Imphal, three Superintendents and six Inspectors would be sent for undergoing training at Agartala Land Customs Station for two days each in phase-wise manner.
In the first phase, two Superintendents and four Inspectors of Customs Preventive Force, Moreh would be sent to Agartala from June 6 to June 8 .
Another batch comprising of one Superintendent and two Inspectors would be sent for training to the Agartala Land Customs Station from June 12 to 14, added the source.
