In a glaring instance of responsiveness to public grievances, the Directorate of Health Services, Manipur under its Director Okram Ibomcha has taken the initiative to fill the inundated surrounding of the Keirao Makting Primary Health Centre in Keirao Assembly Constituency in a short duration, since the undesirable scenario at the health centre was highlighted by this Daily with pictures showing ducks straying on the water around the PHC building on December 5 last.
With the earth filling of the water body around the PHC completed as per commitment, the premises of the health centre have been developed as a big motorable lawn which is desirable for a sanitary health-care institution.
In an unprecedented manner, the PHC has been adorned with dust bins of four different colours for disposing off the various bio-medical wastes.
Proper cleanliness and sanitary arrangements have been witnessed at the health centre now.

It may be recalled that the Director of Health Services who is also the Mission Director of National Health Mission, Manipur responded quickly to the news item published in this Daily by making a spot visit to the PHC on December 5 last and took the initiative to fill the water body.
During the visit of the Health Department officials, the Director assured the local people that the low-lying compound would be filled with earth and electrification of the building would be done before December 25 .
When this Daily observed the condition of the health centre today, the ponds in which ducks and swans had been playing and the local people had been washing clothes and utensils, was no more there.
Narrating on the changed scenario of the PHC, its Chowkidar Yusuf Ali told this Daily that 'since the next day of Director's visit, the earth-filling of the compound began in full swing'.
'Now, the Director has gifted a new compound for the health centre', he exclaimed.
A few days back, a 50-year old woman visiting the health centre amazingly asked this Daily regarding the changes visible in the PHC.
Expressing pleasure over the renovation works of the health centre in such a short period following publication of a news report in Hueiyen Lanpao Daily, Medical Officer of the PHC Dr Nongthombam Thoinao appreciated the Director of Health Services and this daily for all the positive developments.
Recalling the assurances given by the Director of Health Services, a local man of the area wished for materializing the proposed upgradation of the PHC to 24X7 status and construction of compound fencing of the health centre.
