One more dies of COVID-19 to take death toll to 19

Imphal, August 20 2020:
A 73 year old resident of Thangal Keithel, Imphal West died from COVID-19 today, pushing the death toll to 19 .
The deceased who ran a shop at Thangal Keithel was tested positive for the contagion at Babina Diagnostic Centre yesterday.
He died at his home this morning before he could be taken to hospital, sources informed.
The mortal remains of the late man was retrieved by the State Health Department with assistance from the State police led by the OC of City Police and OC of Imphal West Police and the last rites were performed at Minuthong late in the evening today.
According to a press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, 49 individuals including nine personnel of CAPF were tested positive for COVID-19 at RIMS, JNIMS, Imphal West RAT, Bishnupur RAT, Ukhrul RAT, Thoubal RAT and Babina Diagnostic Centre during the last 24 hours.
None of the 40 civilians who have been tested positive has any history of travelling outside the State.
They belong to Imphal West (19), Imphal East (6), Bishnupur (4), Chandel (1), Ukhrul (2), Senapati (1) and Thoubal (7) .
Meanwhile, 117 COVID-19 patients have been discharged from CCC CAPF (70) and CCC Meitram (47) during the last 24 hours after they were found COVID-19 free.
The cumulative figure of COVID-19 positive cases in the State is 4996 (general public 3710, security personnel 1286) .
This figure includes 1905 active cases (general public 1030), security personnel 875) and 3002 discharged cases (general public 2592, security personnel 410) .
The recovery rate as on Thursday is 60.95 per cent.
A late report informed that 26 people were found positive for COVID-19 out of 614 samples tested today at JNIMS.
Of the 26 positive people, 20 belong to Imphal East district.
Another three persons were found infected by the virus after rapid antigen test at Thoubal while five individuals were tested positive at RIMS late in the evening.
Further, another 37 people were found positive after rapid antigen test at different places of Imphal West district.
