BJP National Vice-President Hema Malini draws the crowd in CM's turf

BJP National Vice-President Hema Malini had a hectic day of electioneering in the State in connection with the 10th State Assembly election today.
Thousands of people turned up to listen to the star campaigner of the BJP at five different election meetings, including Chief Minister Ibobi Singh's home constituency, a Congress stronghold.
The saffron party is fielding its candidates in 19 seats in Manipur which has a total of 60 seats.
At Thoubal Assembly Constituency, the home constituency of Chief Minister Ibobi Singh, thousands of people gathered at Ningombam since early morning to listen and have a glimpse of the vice president of the BJP.
Soibam Leikai of Wangkhei A/C, Langdum of Keirao A/C, Lamboi Khong Nangkhong of Uripok A/C and Dharmashala of Thangmeiband A/C were the other places where she campaigned for her party's candidates.
Except Thangmeiband A/C, Congress had won all these seats in the last Assembly election.

Hema Malini was welcomed with loud applause and cheers in all the five meeting venues.
Clad in a reddish saree and blouse, Hema Malini greeted the crowd with folded hands and flashing smiles in return to their enthusiasm.
Addressing the gathering at Lamboi Khongnangkhong, Hema Malini said, "I don't see any change (in Manipur) since I visited ten years back".
Maintaining that Manipur has a rich cultural heritage, the BJP vice-president said that she loves Manipuri dance which is famous not only in the country but also in the world.
She also promised to visit the State again if BJP is voted to power in the coming assembly elections, upon which the voters responded with a loud applause.
She said that States of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Bihar, where BJP is ruling or part of the Government, are doing good in all fronts, whereas Manipur lagging behind even in basic infrastructure facilities.
BJP has tied up with main Opposition parties in the State - MPP, NCP, RJD and JD(U) to form People's Democratic Front (PDF).
