Imphal, December 16 2022:
The National Socialist Council of Nagalim (Isak-Muivah) has said that there should be no ambiguity on the question of Naga National Flag and Constitution while pursuing Naga peace talks as they are constituent parts of sovereignty.
In a press release signed by general secretary Th Muivah, chairman Q Tuccu and vice chairman Tongmeth Wangnao, NSCN (IM) said that the Framework Agreement recognises the unique history and position of Nagas.
Saying that unique history implies that the Nagas have the history of independence, the outfit claimed that the 'Nagas have neither been a part of the Union of India nor that of Myanmar or any other powers by consent or by conquest' .
"By unique position, it means the position and situation of Nagalim is political.
It is a case of invasion of Nagalim by India and not a law and order problem of India," the outfit claimed.
Further stating that sovereignty of Nagalim lies with the Naga people, the NSCN (IM) said that both they and the Government of India have understood each others' position and cognizant of the principle that sovereignty lies with the people in democracy.
It also claimed that the Government of India, during the tenure of then Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh proposed the option of solving the problem on the basis of shared-sovereignty, '"which was subsequently signed under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 3, 2015" .
By shared-sovereignty, it means the Indian people and the Naga people will share sovereign power in some areas as defined in the competencies, NSCN (IM) continued and added that the Government of India proposed for an enduring and inclusive new relationship of peaceful coexistence of the two entities after recognising the National identity of the Nagas.
As per NSCN (IM), inclusive implies all Nagas wherever they are, including political groups while a new relationship of two entities means a new relationship of Indian and Naga people based on Framework Agreement.
