Death toll rises to 552, positive cases spike by record 726

The COVID-19 pandemic is growing more and more critical in the State with 16 persons succumbing to the virus during the last 24 hours while a record 726 people were found infected.
The 726 cases on a single day is the highest logged in Manipur, beating the previous record of 666 on May 12 while the total number of deaths has reached 552 .
According to a press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, 16 persons expired due to COVID-19 related complications at Churachandpur district hospital, Raj Medicity, Shija Hospital, JNIMS and RIMS.
The victims were aged 35 (female, Churachandpur), 53 (male, Imphal East), 69 (male, Bishnupur), 35 (male, Imphal West), 64 (male, Imphal West), 81 (male, Imphal East), 67 (male, Imphal West), 46 (male, Imphal West), 50 (male, Imphal East) 40 (female, Imphal East), 90 (female, Imphal West), 56 (female, Imphal West), 70 (female, Imphal West), 53 (male, Imphal West), 65 (male, Imphal West) and 68 (female, Bishnupur) .
The cumulative number of deaths has now climbed to 552 while the recovery rate has further slipped to 83.16 per cent.
In the meantime, 716 civilians and 10 CAPF personnel were tested positive at JNIMS, RIMS, Imphal East, Imphal West, Maipakpi Hospital, Mother's Care Hospital, CMC, Hillside Hospital, Swiss Clinic, Gilead Health Care Centre, RD Wing, Raj Medicity, Ema Hospital, Advance Hospital, Asian Hospital, Iboyaima Hospital, Jivan Hospital, Peace Hospital, Shija Hospital, Babina Diagnostics, Escent Diagnostics, Thoubal, Bishnupur, Kakching, Churachandpur, Chandel, Senapati, Tamenglong, Kangpokpi, Noney, Pherzawl, Jiribam and Ukhrul.
The civilians are residents of Imphal West (290), Imphal East (192), Thoubal (48), Bishnupur (57), Kakching (33), Ukhrul (9), Churachandpur (49), Chandel (5), Senapati (11), Tamenglong (4), Kangpokpi (5), Noney (11) and Jiribam (2) .
On the other hand, 381 COVID-19 positive people were discharged during the last 24 hours from home isolation (291), CAPF (6), RIMS (16), JNIMS (8), RD Wing (1), BB (17), NSU (14), Raj Medicity (9), Shija Hospital (5), Bishnupur (6), Ukhrul (1) and Churachandpur (7) .
The cumulative number of positive cases is 38,322 (general population 34,632 and Central security personnel 3,690) .
This figure includes 5898 active cases (general population 5722 and Central security personnel 176) and 31,872 recovered cases (general population 28,363 and Central security personnel 3,509) .
In the last 24 hours, a total of 1107 D type oxygen cylinders and 516 B type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of the State.
As per latest information provided by the COVID-19 Common Control Room, 2,96,894 people have been vaccinated against COVID-19 in the State.
